The Roborock Q7 Max Provides Solid Cleaning and an Innovative App
The Roborock Q7 Max offers a tremendous amount of value, providing a mop that can supply pressure and a sweeping motion to mop better with water alone than most of the competition, and an app that delivers innovative features that you won't find anywhere else.
Here's what you need to know about the Roborock Q7 Max and why it may be the right robot for your needs.
PreciSense Precission LiDAR and 3D mapping give the Roborock Q7 Max the ability to understand your home in a highly detailed way. It formulates a 3D map of up to four levels of your home. It automatically recognizes which map it needs to utilize when you set it down and tell it to start cleaning.
While the Roborock Q7 Max automatically generates a map of your home for use on the app and to help it organize cleaning, it also continuously maps out your home as it cleans. If furniture suddenly moves into its path, it will be aware of it and reorient itself to clean effectively around it and not run into it.
However, because it doesn't have optical sensors to recognize obstacles on the lower level, it will tend to bump into shoes, books, etc that have been left around. It will immediately sense that it has run into these obstacles with its bump sensors so it doesn't keep running into them, but don’t expect it to avoid them altogether.
You have a lot of control over the Roborock Q7 Max with the intuitive app. You can create custom cleaning schedules and tell the robot when to clean, what suction power to use, and which rooms you want it to clean. Customize the 3D map to add furniture and tell the robot what kind of material is on specific floors.
Another handy feature are the routines. If you find yourself using your robot vacuum for the same kinds of tasks over and over, you can set a routine for it. Often make a mess in the kitchen? Set a routine that tells the vacuum to go to the kitchen and suction at a certain power with the push of a button. Does your kid's room need vacuuming when they’re done playing? Set a routine so all you have to do is press one button to send the robot to the kid's room whenever you need it.
You can also set the typical features that a quality robot vacuum has, like no-go zones and invisible walls that allow you to tell your robot exactly where you don't want it to go. The Roborock Q7 Max works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. However, it doesn't work quite as well with Alexa as it does with Siri.
The Roborock Q7 Max delivers an impressive 4200 PA of suction power. It’s able to remove the vast majority of debris from hard floors and even dense carpeting.
If you suffer from allergies, you'll appreciate that the dust bag filter removes 99.7% of pollen as small as three microns and locks it securely away.
The rubber brush is cleverly designed to agitate carpet, digging dust and debris up into the vacuum mouth. This brush was developed to move hair into the dustbin instead of getting tangled up in the fibers of the roller.
If you're sick of removing hair tangles from a bristle brush, you are sure to appreciate this feature. However, keep in mind that the spinning brush on the side which is designed to push debris away from walls and out of corners does still tend to get hair tangled in it.
Carpet detection enables the Roborock Q7 Max to boost suction when it encounters carpeting, allowing it to save battery power on hard floors where the highest level of suction is necessary but boost the suction to get deep into the fibers of carpeting when it encounters carpet.
300 G of consistent mopping pressure and 30 water flow levels makes this robot a highly effective mopping machine. Unlike some robots that just drag a pad over the floor, this robot puts some significant pressure into its mopping, not unlike how a person mopping can apply pressure by hand. It also uses a spring mechanism to move the wiping pad in real-life motions.
You can choose from 30 different flow levels, which allows you to fine-tune exactly how much water you would like the robot to put out, striking the perfect balance between enough water to clean but not so much to leave the floor wet.
Keep in mind that you won't be able to add detergent to this robot vacuum like you would with some other mopping options. It does a pretty good job of getting floors clean with just water, but it would be nice if detergent could be added.
350 mL of water tank capacity is enough to get a significant amount of floor clean, provided you're not using a lot of water, but if you choose a higher level of water output, you may find that you need to add water to the onboard container during a clean.
With 4200 Pa of suction power, it should come as no surprise that this vacuum makes a little bit of noise. Expect around 67 decimals on average. Of course, if you run it on a lower power mode or mopping only, it's much quieter.
Empty the Dustbin
The dustbin generally needs to be emptied every time the vacuum runs or every other time, depending on how dirty/large your home is. It’s simple to empty the dustbin just by tapping it into a garbage can.
Clean the Brushes
The rubber roller brush on the Roborock Q7 Max is designed to prevent hair from getting tangled up in it, so you probably won't have much to do to clean this brush besides wiping it with a damp cloth to remove any stuck-on debris.
However, the spinning side brush does tend to get hair wrapped around it, so you’ll need to pull hair off and cut it off when necessary periodically so that it doesn't ruin the functioning of the spinning brush.
Clean the Filter
The Roborock Q7 Max has a washable filter, so you'll just need to remove it and wash it under cool water occasionally.
Clean the Mopping Pad
Unless the robot didn't have much mopping to do, you'll need to clean the mopping pad after each cleaning session. The reusable cloth can be washed in the washing machine on a gentle cycle.
Wipe Down the Body of the Vacuum
It's a good idea to wipe down the entire body of the vacuum with a damp cloth every now and then. This is especially true with the white vacuum body since it will show dirt very easily.
The Roborock Q7 Max offers some very convenient features that you're unlikely to find elsewhere, like the ability to set routines with the app and a mop that provides good pressure and a sweeping motion. Combined with the respectable suction power, you may well decide this is the right robot for you.
